Demolished Old Dairy Queen on Parnell

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) — The once-popular Dairy Queen neighborhood along Parnell Avenue near Northside Park was vandalized Wednesday morning.

A backhoe leveled the building on Parnell Ave. 2902. It had stood since 1950, WANE 15 learned.

The Dairy Queen closed after the 2018 season.

So what is the plan for the country? The owner of the nearby Shady Nook has bought the property and plans to convert it into a new community gathering place.

Michelle Schmidt plans to create a parking lot on the site in the future and set up food trucks and music.
