Cyberjaya Hospital can become a primary responsive hospital

CYBERJAYA: Cyberjaya Hospital has the potential to become a primary care hospital in terms of disaster preparedness at the country’s entry points, namely Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2).
Health Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa (Picture) said it was due to Cyberjaya Hospital’s strategic location, while Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and Cyberjaya Silicon Valley, located in Sepang District, could also benefit from the hospital’s healthcare services.
“The Ministry of Health (MOH) is reviewing the need to deploy a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine at Cyberjaya Hospital to meet current needs and its role as a reference hospital for all disaster incidents in the KLIA,” she said in her speech at an inauguration ceremony of Cyberjaya Hospital here today.
Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, presided over the opening of Cyberjaya Hospital, which was built at a cost of nearly RM508.8 million.
dr Zaliha, whose speech was read by her deputy Lukanisman Awang Sauni, said the Cyberjaya hospital construction aims, among other things, to reduce the bed occupancy rate (BOR) of Klang Valley hospitals and reduce congestion in nearby hospitals like that Serdang Hospital, Kajang Hospital and Putrajaya Hospital.
According to her, the current bed occupancy rate in public hospitals in Sepang and Hulu Langat districts, particularly Kajang Hospital, is over 90 percent, while the BOR for Serdang Hospital and Ampang Hospital is over 80 percent.
She said the nine-storey Cyberjaya Hospital is a large specialist hospital providing advanced specialist services with eight operating rooms, 10 delivery rooms and a capacity of 288 beds.
“Insya Allah, Cyberjaya Hospital will benefit about 282,000 residents in Sepang, including Dengkil and Labu areas,” she said.
She said the MOH is also looking into establishing geriatric treatment services and psychiatric services at Cyberjaya Hospital soon, taking into account the trend of rising numbers of seniors and the spread of mental illness among people. -Bernama
