Court filings: Man charged with shooting woman in head and hand

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) — A Fort Wayne man is charged in a shooting that cost a woman part of her ring finger and required brain surgery last month, according to newly released Allen Superior Court documents.
Fort Wayne Police arrested 21-year-old Adrian Collins last week in connection with the September 25 shooting that took place at a home on the 4900 block of McClellan Street.

According to court documents, the shooting happened after an argument between two housemates who had a disagreement about a man – later identified as Collins – who lived in the house.
The woman who was eventually shot said Collins once drew a gun on her and she knocked it out of his hand, court documents say. Collins only went to return to the house with another man, the woman told police in court documents.
According to court records, Collins and the other man walked to the front door and knocked. When the woman responded, she was accused of pointing a gun at the man with Collins.
Collins, who was standing by the door, is accused of firing a gun at the home, court documents say.
A bullet tore off the woman’s ring finger above the ankle, according to court records, and another hit her in the back of the head. The woman later told investigators in court documents that she required surgery, during which doctors removed part of her skull to remove the bullet.
Doctors then used mesh to properly reattach the portion of her skull they had removed, the woman said in court documents.
After his arrest, police booked Collins into the Allen County Jail for criminal recklessness, aggravated battery, and battery with a deadly weapon.
He is being held on $70,000 bail.
