Connor Goldson shocks Rangers reception ahead of Celtic clash as he tells Gers back to SQUARE ONE after title 55

CONNOR GOLDSON admits Rangers haven’t progressed after their 55th title win.
John Bennett was installed as the club’s new chairman after Douglas Park resigned on Tuesday.

It heralds the beginning of yet another new Ibrox era in which Goldson is determined to play his part.
But the defender said: “I don’t think we went on – and that’s all as a club.
“As a club we could have done more and now we’re back to square one.
“I understand all the frustration of the fans that we didn’t start after 55 and won 56 and 57.

“Having won the Scottish Cup final last season, we need to win it this year or our season may not bring any trophies.
“We reached a European final last season and lost it – and now in the season after that we’re not top of the table.
“There have been so many ups and downs. It’s frustrating.
“I think I should have won more.
“Someone spoke to me the other day about the amount I’ve won and if I play X number of games after eight years, I think I’ll be classed as a legend or in the Hall of Fame.
“And I said, ‘I haven’t won enough.’
“But at the same time it comes with it when I think back to the team when I came here, where the club was and how far we were behind.
“We’ve come damn far.
“Only in Scotland do we forget how far we’ve come when we finish second or lose a cup final.”
Goldson is the first to admit after nearly five years at Glasgow his trophy return wasn’t good enough.
That’s why – after signing a new four-year deal last summer – he’s desperate to help gaffer Michael Beale make silverware a success.
Goldson added: “There are players who would have played here in the past, who came here two years and won five trophies but haven’t actually played a game.
“I played 250 or 260 games and won two trophies. Is that enough? NO.
“But maybe if I had come at a different time, it could have been very different.

“I can’t fret about where we are as a football club and the path we’ve been on because I’m proud of it.
“It was amazing. But at the same time I want more medals.”
