Quentin Williams, a Middletown Liberal known as “Q,” died in the accident on Highway 9 in Cromwell.

He was 39 years old. State police said the two drivers were killed and one of the vehicles burst into flames.

The names of the victims have not yet been released by state police at this time.

House Speaker Matt Ritter, D-Hartford, and the greater part Pioneer Jason Rojas, D-East Hartford, said in a statement that William’s family informed them that the legislature had died.

“I’m in shock,” said Ritter. β€œQ was my dear companion and I am scarred by his sudden misfortune. We have the opportunity and energy to consider Q as lawmaker in the coming weeks, but at this time I deeply mourn my mate and send my affection to Carrissa, Sovereign and all of Q’s family. We will all miss Q.”

With that in mind, the official place of business was closed and there were no relevant drills on Thursday. Governor Ned Lamont advised the banners to be flown to half-staff.

Williams is the new co-seat of the General Assembly’s Labor and Public Representatives Board of Trustees.

A biography on his regular website states that he was the first African American to speak at the Middletown General Assembly.

Williams was a financier for the city of Middletown before being elected to the council. Previously, he was responsible for the city’s preparatory and editorial commission.

His website states that he was educated in Middletown, received a degree in business organization from Bryant College and an expert degree in policy management from Villanova College. Middletown Mayor Ben Florsheim said in a proclamation that Rep. Williams was genuinely satisfied with the phrase “amazing.”

β€œHis giggle, grin and presence could be felt in every room he was given. His death is a real misfortune for our region. Today a light has been darkened.”
