Classic Ford Escort found hidden in a dusty garage for 30 years

An unused Ford was found in mint condition after being left in a garage over 30 years ago.
The 1991 Ford Escort was spotted with almost nothing on its mileage, having been parked there almost three decades ago.

The vehicle is said to be a red 1991 XR3 Formula, which is considered extremely rare as only 375 cars were made in this color in Brazil, where it was found.
The car is currently owned by a collector from the Brazilian state of Parana and was acquired by its first owner 11 years ago.
The man, classic car dealer Reginaldo de Campinas, said the vehicle had just 137 miles on the odometer and had only driven 72 miles when he “rescued” it in 2012.
The original owner drove the car very little as he suffered from a serious health problem shortly after purchase, according to local media.
But the unnamed first owner really loved his car.
Reginaldo said: “The owner was already ill and started fetching gallons of fuel from a gas station near his home every week to keep the engine running. He did this for 20 years until he died in 2011.”
Auctioneer Joel Picelli of Picelli Auctions told local media: “In my opinion an XR3 Formula is a steal in these conditions at BRL 120,000, a little more, a little less.
“It’s certainly worth more than BRL 100,000, easily as it has practically zero kilometers on the clock.”
According to the expert, the value could continue to rise if the “right” collector is looking for an original, well-maintained and very little used car.
He said: “It’s not a conventional XR3. It was a limited production and on top of the fact that it’s like a brand new vehicle, that can drive the price up a lot.”
In 2019, it was discovered that a brand new van with just 80 miles on the clock was worth four times its original price.
The vintage engine was bought by a builder for just £5,000 when it was first launched more than 30 years ago.
But a sudden economic downturn forced him to change jobs.
Rather than trade in the light blue van, he stored it in a dry storage garage to preserve its pristine condition.
It then sat there for several decades where its value has skyrocketed and is now priced at £20,000.
