Chicago’s neighborhood is considered one of the coolest in the world

CHICAGO — A northwest Chicago neighborhood has big bragging rights.
Avondale has been named one of the coolest neighborhoods in the world.
That’s correct! We talk on the planet.
The online magazine time out ranks Avondale 16th on its list of the “51 Coolest Neighborhoods in the World”.
time out says it polled 20,000 city dwellers and grilled local experts to create its 2022 list of neighborhoods for food, fun, community and culture.
They say all of the communities mentioned are “amazing places to be right now,” have “cutting edge culture and nightlife,” and “mix the best of old and new schools.”
As for Avondale specifically, time out pointed out that there’s “some of the best Mexican food in town,” a variety of small shops like The Brewed, a horror-themed cafe, as well as “everything from trendy new bars and airy plant shops to decades-old charcuterie” along Milwaukee Avenue.
By the way, the coolest neighborhood in the world is Colonia Americana in Guadalajara, Mexico and you can see the full list of communities here.
Choose Chicago predicts that Avondale, with its large mix of Polish and Latino populations, will be the city’s next “it” neighborhood due to its “under-the-radar” restaurant and nightlife scene; but this new ranking could make that prediction a reality sooner or later.
The neighborhood also has an abundance of bars and restaurants, as well as pop-ups, giving a fresh vibe to the urban, down-to-earth feel of Avondale’s industrial roots.
Choose Chicago also encourages visitors to visit St. Hyacinth Basilica, one of only three basilicas in the city and one of Avondale’s historic buildings.
