Chelsea meet with Benfica over the signing of Enzo Fernandez

Chelsea met Benfica last night in London over the potential signing of Enzo Fernandez.
Benfica president Rui Costa, Fernandez agent Jorge Mendes and Chelsea owners were present at the meeting.
Fernandez has a release clause of £106m ($128m) with Chelsea looking to negotiate that price down. They believe no club will pay that price.

There is currently no agreement between the two sides. the athlete reported earlier this week that Benfica are in no rush to sell a player who has only played 25 games for them after signing from Buenos Aires’s River Plate in July.
The Lisboners don’t need the money after selling striker Darwin Nunez to Liverpool for up to €100million last summer.
Fernandez is their No. 1 midfield target along with Borussia Dortmund’s England international Jude Bellingham.
The 21-year-old shone at the World Cup as Argentina won the competition. At the tournament in Qatar he was voted the best young player.
Chelsea meet Manchester City in the Premier League on Thursday night. They are 10th in the league. (processed)
