Catholic Charities West Michigan hosts back-to-school fundraiser for foster children

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOOD) — West Michigan Catholic charities are preparing to help kids look and feel good at a back-to-school event Saturday, Aug. 13.

The main goal is to ensure that children in foster care start the year with confidence.

“It is extremely important that all children have a great start to their school year,” CEO David Bellamy said in a press release. “This need is even greater for those in foster care whose lives have already been disrupted.”

The event will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Catholic Charities located at 40 Jefferson Ave. SE are located. Children can be cut, styled or braided by over 30 different hair professionals on site.

The nonprofit organization is also giving away school supplies, Chick-fil-A gift cards, a pair of shoes, and sweet treats for you to enjoy during the event.
