Bute House: Man arrested near Humza Yousaf’s official residence

Police were called to Edinburgh’s Charlotte Square, where Bute House is located, around 7.40pm on Saturday.

Police said a 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Bute House is the official residence of Scotland’s First Minister, recently taken over by Humza Yousaf from Nicola Sturgeon after he won the SNP leadership race.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were called around 7.40pm on Saturday 1 April to get a report of a man acting suspiciously in the Charlotte Square area of ​​Edinburgh.

“Officials were present and a 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

“There was no threat to the general public and an investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances.”

A Scottish Government spokesman said they were aware of the situation but would not comment, saying it was a police matter.
