Buc’s head coach describes the task of preparing for the next game as Hurricane Ian targets the Tampa Bay area

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — With Hurricane Ian targeting the Tampa Bay area, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are packing up and heading south.

The Bucs will practice at the Miami Dolphins’ team facility for the week while the Dolphins travel to Cincinnati for an away game on Thursday.

News Channel 8’s Dan Lucas sat down with Bucs head coach Todd Bowles for their weekly “Bucs with Bowles” interview and spoke about the struggles of an NFL team trying to carry on as usual when all is but normal around the team around reigns.

As Hurricane Ian’s main force surged out of the southern portion of the Bay Area and then north, the Bucs spent Monday preparing the team facility for strong winds and heavy rains. The players made final personal preparations before traveling to South Florida.

When the team returns to Tampa, the fate of Sunday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs may still be in question. The NFL has yet to confirm the normal kickoff for Sunday at 8:20 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium.

Several factors play into this final decision, including the overall condition of the site, the condition of the stadium, and the availability of police and emergency services.

On the field, both the Bucs and Chiefs suffer frustrating losses.

The Bucs fell to the Green Bay Packers 14-12 while the Chiefs lost to the Indianapolis Colts 20-17.
