Realizing that your belongings are missing is not the best feeling, especially when you are in the comfort of a hotel. This was probably Big Fendi’s recent experience in Miami. The music industry vet shared a story about how $400,000 and his jewelry were stolen from a South Beach hotel.
For those who don’t know, Big Fendi is the man who discovered Nicki Minaj when her raps were still alive on Myspace. Not only that, he reportedly gave Nicki her now-iconic stage name.
Late Sunday night, Big Fendi shared a post on his Instagram account detailing what he believes happened to his property. He began by saying his “Prada bag containing over 400,000 and jewelry was stolen from the Mondrian Hotel in South Beach.”
“I checked in around 4:45pm. I realized shortly after my bag wasn’t in my room,” Big Fendi wrote. “In short, the hotel found the bag and turned it over to security. (Who Looked Thru My Bag to log it in) He then contacted someone who created a fake email that was sent to the Mondrian. He said he lost a bag, described what was in the bag and sent someone to pick it up.
Possible hotel participation
Fendi didn’t share details on how long it took the hotel to locate the bag. He also did not share how he knows security searched and logged the items in his bag. Also, it’s unclear how Fendi knew security was in touch with an outsider and the fake email. Despite this, he went on to explain how he believes his belongings escaped him.
“The hotel released my bag without asking for my ID or ANYTHING,” Big Fendi wrote in its caption. “That was an insider job with a difference!!!!! Here the person who came and picked up my bag. If you know who that is, Dm Me. HE IN MIAMI!!!”
Along with the story in its caption, Big Fendi shared about eight images that look like screenshots from security footage. The photo shows a black man with two-tone locs and a tan headgear. His face is fully bared and his attire is casual with a t-shirt and jeans. A black bag can be seen near the unidentified man, but it is unclear if it is Big Fendi’s Prada bag.
At this time there is no word from the Mondrian Hotel on the situation. This is an evolving story.
