Batik Air donates 3,000 blankets to Johor flood victims

PETALING JAYA: Batik Air Malaysia donated 3,000 blankets to flood victims in Johor.

The submission was presented today by Lion Group Group Strategy Director Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy to the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) at Royal Malaysian Air Force Base in Subang.

Witnessing the handover ceremony was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the chairman of the Central Disaster Management Committee, thanked Batik Air for donating the blankets.

“The private sector has a role to play in helping the country as a whole through good times and bad. I would like to thank Datuk Chandran, the private sector and all parties and I hope this support will set an example for other private sectors,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chandran said the company took the initiative to make a contribution after learning of the insufficient supply of blankets for flood victims at the state’s relief centers.

“We will do our best to gradually help the flood victims,” he said. – Bernama
