Astros vs. Mariners Game 3: Houston travels to Seattle to close the door on ALDS and advance to the 6th AL Championship Series

SEATTLE, Wash. (KTRK)– In the words of legendary wordsmith Marshall Bruce Mathers III, “If you had a chance or an opportunity to grab everything you ever wanted.

A golden, shining opportunity awaits for the Houston Astros in the typically cloudy, bleak Pacific Northwest, where a twice-beaten but understandably vengeful Seattle Mariners team stands between the Stros and their sixth straight AL Championship Series berth.

All they have to do is grab it, only once, ideally on the first try out of three.

Houston’s first attempt at the historic honor comes in Game 3 of the AL Division Series at T-Mobile Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:07 pm CT.

Here’s what we know ahead of the crucial competition.

Astros ALCS tickets on sale before the door closes at ALDS

Not that it should scare any superstitious Astros fans, but the club already have open sales for it home AL Championship Series tickets at Minute Maid Park.

Houston would have home field advantage if they progress, so game sales links 1 and 2as well as potential games 6 and 7, which as “home game 3” and “home game 4,” are active on the Astros website.

Of course, if things go wrong in Seattle and the Astros miss the next two clinch chances, the Astros will return to Minute Maid Park on Monday for a winner-take-all ALDS Game 5. And yes, Tickets are on sale for this afternoon affair.

Seattle is hosting its first MLB postseason game in 21 years

The Mariners have a long-suffering fan base. The playoff drought they tolerated is old enough to buy a beer.

But the M’s are making the most of their postseason return, sweeping Toronto and now home to a division rival as their first playoff opponent, which they hosted on Oct. 21.

So a playoff-hungry crowd should be loud enough to keep up with any game being played by the Mariners’ neighbors, the Seahawks. And the Astros are well aware of that.

“The (Mariners) fans are going to electrify,” said Astros bottom pitcher Ryan Pressly. “Taking two here takes a bit of the pressure off you going up there, but you want to keep the pedal down and keep going.”
