fans of The Apprentice were rocked during last night’s episode (March 17) thanks to a “brutal and hilarious” interview tactic.
As a result, the four remaining contestants sat down for a series of interviews with the show’s interview specialists, while Lord Alan Sugar sent two of the entrepreneurial hopefuls packing ahead of next week’s finale.
During her interview with business analyst Mike Soutar, contestant Kathryn Louise Burn found herself in something of a loose end.
With each contestant having a business venture pitch should they win the series, Kathryn spent the interviews discussing her proposal for an online pajama retailer.
When Soutar asked what website domain she wanted to use, Kathryn replied, “www.myeverydaypyjamas.co.uk.”
“So you bought that?” Soutar asked, to which the contestant replied, “No.”
Soutar then revealed that someone had indeed already bought the domain, and a number of others like it: himself.
Viewers were surprised by the exchange, with one person writing: “This has got to be the best moment of the interviews. Mike really did this to Kathryn.”
“Brutal but also hilarious,” wrote another.
Another wrote: “This interview has officially secured its place the apprentice Hall of Fame.”
It wasn’t all bad news for Kathryn, however. Soutar eventually gifted her one of the domain names he bought and she made it to the finals despite the bumpy interview.
The Apprentice airs Thursdays at 9pm on BBC One. Past episodes can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
