Ange Postecoglou speaks out on Celtic and Rangers bans

The Celtic manager explained he was not fully aware of the intricacies of the situation but was aware of the Derby decision.

The Herald exclusively announced that neither Ibrox nor Celtic Park would be present for the remaining games between the clubs this season.

After discussions between the clubs, it was decided that the games will be home-only for at least the remainder of this season.

It is understood the decision to ban fans was taken now to allow time to find solutions to sort out various arrangements at both stadiums.

Postecoglou was asked for his opinion on the derby fans’ decision after his side’s win against Hibs at Parkhead on Saturday.

He told Sky Sports: “I’m not fully aware of all the details. I’m sure the club will handle this.

“I’ve said in the past that I think it makes for a better spectacle (with away fans).

“I think that decision was made with all the information available.”

The Celtic manager then called the forthcoming Scottish Cup semi-final between Glasgow rivals an opportunity to look forward to with a half-and-half support.

He added: “The beauty of that is we have a game in Hampden where it’s going to be 50-50. Let’s look forward to it.”

Postecoglou commented on the league win against Hibs: “It just felt like a bit of a chaotic game, there was a lot going on on and off the pitch.

“Especially in the first half we just couldn’t find a rhythm or flow and we could not force ourselves into the game the way we wanted. Nevertheless, we created a few big chances. I mean, David Marshall made some great saves and we hit the bar.

“But I thought we handled it much better in the second half, we stayed calm, kept our composure, made an impact when it was needed and the lads who came on helped us get the result achieve.”
