All in all, Amy Schumer did a pretty good job as a host this year’s Academy Awards. Apparently all the flubs were overshadowed by a much bigger controversy but still, that Leonardo DiCaprio joke was pretty good. This line about the Golden Globes Inclusion in In Memoriam? Wonderful.

But what about the stuff that didn’t make the show? Don’t people deserve a chance to hear the jokes that never left the site? Like it or not, Amy Schumer is sharing some of her canceled footage from Oscar night, and, ew, boy, isn’t it pretty.

At a recent appearance at the Mirage Theater in Las Vegas, Schumer spoke about the show and how it made her feel on the air. And of course she spoke about her reaction to The Slap.

“I was kind of feeling like myself, and then all of a sudden Ali was making his way upstairs,” Schumer said, referring to Will Smith’s Oscar-nominated performance as Muhammad Ali Ali. “And it was just a damn crap. All I can say is that it was really sad and I think it says so much about toxic masculinity. It was really upsetting, but I think the best way to comfort us would be if I said the Oscar jokes that I wasn’t allowed to say on TV.”

“I want to preface these Oscar jokes by saying that my attorney told me not to say those. Don’t tell anyone and don’t be mad at me.”

What jokes was she not allowed to tell on TV? How about a cracker jack joke about the tragic rust shoot?

Don’t look up is the name of a movie? You’d better not look down the barrel of Alec Baldwin’s shotgun,” Schumer said. “I wasn’t allowed to say any of this, but you can just come up and [slap] someone.”

To be fair, if Will Smith would have consulted his attorney before The Slap, well we might be living in a very different world, a better world, a world Amy Schumer lives in rust joke is not told. She apparently had more jokes that weren’t ready for prime time, including some zingers aimed at James Franco and Joe Rogan.

Still, we’re all grateful that Schumer didn’t tell that joke onstage, especially considering Hutchin’s name was barely visible during the ceremony’s bizarre, overly complicated In Memoriam segment.

Don’t look up? Rather not share your cut Oscar footage. Unfortunately, it’s too late for Amy Schumer, but there’s still hope for Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes.
