Allen County travel advisory issued due to slippery conditions

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) – More snow is causing roads in the area to become slippery and dangerous, prompting the Allen County Office of Homeland Security to issue a travel advisory.

In addition to the slick roads, Allen County Office of Homeland Security director Bernie Beier pointed out that this is the second morning that there have been multiple reports of vehicles encountering deer. Snow, open fields, less daylight and the ongoing hunting season have kept the deer population very active.

A travel advisory means that “routine travel or activities in areas may be restricted due to a dangerous situation and individuals should exercise caution or avoid those areas”.

There have been numerous reports of falls and slides throughout Fort Wayne and the surrounding area.

Drivers are asked to slow down and allow extra time for the morning commute.

Several schools have postponed the start of classes. These schools are listed here.
