Allen County Council approves $30 million drainage and septic tank projects

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) — Allen County Council on Thursday approved the spending of $30 million of an available $74 million in ARPA funds to address long-standing drainage and septic tank projects.

Commissioner Richard Beck said there are at least 18 projects in the county that need immediate attention.

One such project is in Zulu, where homes are connected to an outdated septic tank system.

The council also committed an additional $4 million to provide broadband Internet access. Another $1 million will be set aside for administrative expenses, though Beck said he has no plans to spend all of the money.

County Council President Tom Harris told WANE 15 that he asked for a list of projects so the county could ensure they were all completed.
