Alabama will pass 3 (three!) anti-gay laws today

Alabama legislators are try to win a prize for the most bigoted bills passed in a day, and fine, we’ll give them the asshole Trophy.
Today the Republican-controlled state legislature hired to happen a so-called “bathroom bill‘, which would prohibit transgender students in grades K through 12 from using the bathroom and locker room that matches their gender identity; a felony ban on physicians providing gender-affirming health care to transgender minors; and a so-called “DNothingyes GYes” invoice that would ban teachers to discuss Sexuality in kindergarten through fifth grade. If passed, the bills go to Governor Kay Ivey (R) for her signature.
the bathroom bill, HB322has already passed the house, and the Senate is considering it today. Montgomery Advertiser Reporter Brian Lyman called on Twitter that Republican Senator Shay Shelnutt passed a “DNothingyes Gay” amendment to the bill. (Shelnutt is the main sponsor of the health ban.) Lyman reported that the change was passed 24 to 6 and passed the larger bathroom bill 26 to 5sail straight through. It will now be sent back to the House of Representatives for final approval.
The Senate has already passed the care ban, SB184, and the House will deal with that today. It would make the provision of gender-affirming care like puberty blockers and hormones a Class C crime that can be punished up to 10 years in prison. This bill could potentially also marginalize trans children to their parents by forcing them schools to report Gender difference compared to parents. The legislator has not yet voted on the health ban. but we will update this post after they do.
