The scares unfolded at homes in Brent Cross, Wembley, Southall and Greenford between Wednesday and Friday.

The Metropolitan Police say the serious burglaries in west and north-west London are linked.

The suspects were described as wearing dark clothing and wearing balaclavas and gloves when conducting the home invasions.

It is also believed that the threats used a dark getaway vehicle.

No arrests have been made yet.

The first incident happened around 11.14pm on Wednesday when four men forced entry into a property in Brent Cross and threatened a resident with a knife.

An unknown substance was thrown at the victim, a woman in her 40s – it is not known if any items were taken from the home on Highfield Avenue.

Just 25 minutes later, police officers rushed to an incident in Flamsted Avenue, Harrow, where four men smashed into property and made off with jewellery.

Nobody was injured in the burglary.

Police then rushed to Lady Margaret Road, Southall, where four men armed with a knife and screwdriver had broken into the property around 10.56pm on Thursday.

They poured corrosive liquid over the face of a man in his 70s before stealing a safe containing cash and jewellery.
