7 people killed, dozens injured in explosion in Bangladesh

DHAKA: At least seven people were killed and dozens others injured in an explosion that occurred at a commercial building in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on Tuesday, an official said.
The police officer, who declined to be named, told Xinhua that the blast happened around 4:45 p.m. local time near a bus counter.
“Seven bodies were recovered from the blast site,” he said.
At least 70 people are being treated in hospital for their injuries, with several people in intensive care, he added.
The fire brigade remained on site during the work. Police and ambulance should also be present.
The official said at least seven firefighting units are working at the scene of the five-story building, which houses a bank branch, ceramics and sanitary supplies stores.
The cause of the explosion could not be known immediately.
Security has been tightened in and around the blast site. -Bernama
