Roommates, there was an arrest related to the recent mass shooting in Sacramento. According to KCRA News, 26-year-old Dandre Martin is behind bars and is listed as a “related suspect” in connection with the Sacramento mass shooting. During an interview this morning, Police Chief Kathy Lester confirmed he was taken into custody at 12.39am this morning and charged with assault with a firearm and as a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
KCRA 3’s Ty Steele said of the incident: “Right now, that’s really all we can say about him. As you know, this is a complex investigation and we are looking for multiple suspects, so we are currently working to identify his role in the night of the shooting.” Sacramento Police Department SWAT members and detectives provided additional information in a press release available about the case. The statement detailed how they served search warrants at three homes in the area where at least one handgun was seized.
Additionally, Sacramento District Attorney Ann Marie Schubert determined that Dandre had not been arrested for murder. “The investigation is very complex and involves many witnesses, videos of numerous types and substantial physical evidence,” she said. “This is an ongoing investigation and we expect further arrests in this case. Our ethical obligations as prosecutors prevent us from commenting on the details of the case. We will review the evidence submitted to our office and decide what charges, if any, are appropriate. If charges are brought, the complaint will be made public.”
