16 catalytic converters stolen from Monroe used car store

MONROE, Indiana (WANE) — It’s no secret that stealing your catalytic converter is a nuisance.
Catalytic converters help regulate pollutants from your exhaust and are also made of valuable metals, namely platinum, palladium and rhodium.
But a Monroe business owner had 16 stolen in one morning.
“It’s just unfortunate that we’re not a big operation,” said Matt Zimmerman. “It really hurts a guy like me.”
Zimmerman is vice president of Marshal’s Motors, which deals primarily in used trucks. The theft is a reason for him to increase security.
“It forced us to increase our security, add a gate, add alarms, add security cameras,” Zimmerman said.
Zimmerman told WANE 15 that the theft occurred between 5:58 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
“He didn’t care about anything in the world. I put him in front of the camera, but not enough to identify him,” Zimmerman said. “He was here on the corner of Highway 27 and 100 North, the busiest spot on my property at 7:30 a.m.”
These are the images and videos captured by surveillance cameras. Zimmerman believes the vehicle to be a silver Rav-4.
There is currently a $2,000 reward for information leading to the thief’s arrest and conviction.
Half of the money was raised by Marshal’s Motors and the other half by Bug-Free Pest Control in Decatur.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.
