15 injured, 1 seriously in Seneca boat fire


SENECA, Illinois — 15 people were injured in a boat fire in Seneca Saturday afternoon, with one person seriously injured, police said.

According to the Illinois State Police, shortly after 4:25 p.m., soldiers responded to 911 calls from a boat fire at Spring Brook Marina in LaSalle County, where several people were discovered with injuries.

Police said there were 17 people on the boat, 13 of whom were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. One occupant of the boat was flown to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

In addition, a marina worker suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
