1 dead in overnight crash in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Indiana (WANE) — One person died and another was injured in an accident early Sunday morning in New Haven.
The New Haven Police Department said the accident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. on SR 930 west of New Haven Ave
According to police, the initial investigation found that one of the cars was traveling west in the east lanes and struck the other car head-on. Both cars had significant damage to the front end.
The driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no one else in the car with them.
The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the accident, police said.
The incident is being investigated by the New Haven Police Department and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
The victim’s name will be released after an autopsy is completed and family notified.
