1 dead in 2 vehicle crash involving semi near Van Wert
VAN WERT COUNTY, Ohio (WANE) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) was responding to a two-vehicle accident that occurred west of Van Wert and left one person dead Tuesday afternoon.
According to authorities, the accident happened around 4:13 p.m. on US Route 224 near Dull Robinson Road.
According to OSHP, 63-year-old Craig A. Shivley was traveling east on U.S. Route 224 and crossing the centerline as 67-year-old Paul A. Guinther was traveling west in a tractor-trailer, resulting in Shivley being hit head-on by the tractor-trailer .
Guinther was in stable condition after being rushed to a hospital, OSHP said, and Shivley was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Van Wert County Coroner’s Office.
The crash is still under investigation.
